Does Your Baby Have Trouble With Daylight Savings Time?

Springing forward may sound great, but only if you are not a parent. Of course, I am just kidding a bit, but you know how stressful it can be. It may seem like ”just one hour” but your baby may find himself or herself very confused and out of the schedule. Besides that, you can also experience some hard times while trying to do the best you can to comfort your baby and to make everything easier for both of you. But, don’t worry, we can help you! We prepared a short list that will answer to all those mysteries why your baby cannot accept daylight saving time that easily and what to do instead!

Baby’s sleep schedule

This would definitely be the first thing you should think about. The best would be to try the schedule the sleeping earlier. Of course, you cannot go the full hour, but you can try with 30 minutes to even 15 minutes earlier. Trust us, it will make a huge difference!

What about the weekends?

Be sure that your baby is tired. Go out. Spend as much time as you can on the fresh air. We all know how being in nature is great for your health and for your baby’s health. Besides that, your baby will fall asleep much easier.

The curtains

You haven’t probably thought how blackout curtains can make a huge difference. Well, they can, because these would trick your baby that it is the nighttime. No one likes to sleep while there is some light outside, wouldn’t you agree? And no, we are not talking about the afternoon nap, but about a full goodnight’s sleep.

Mornings

When you wake up, be sure that you expose your baby to the daylight. In that case, your baby will be more ready to accept the new routine. You will only need to do this for a few days, or just a week, so don’t worry, it won’t last long.

Patience

We all know that the patience is everything. You cannot force your baby to act like nothing happened, because we humans are biologically programmed, and not by the clock. Be as much patience as you can and help your baby to adapt to the new schedule completely. It would both make your and your baby’s life easier.

So, it doesn’t need to be that hard. We can understand how stressful it was and how stressful it can be. But, if you follow this advice, you will make it much easier for your whole family! Enjoy the spring!

It would be way easier if daylight savings just didn’t exist. It’s ruining everybody’s lives, not just our babies.

My daughter’s first day light saving was a mess to us. Who knew a single hour could be such a hassle.

Luckily my child quickly adapted. I was so worried my own sleep will be thrown out of whack because of her.

This is my first daylights saving with a child and I am slightly afraid at how she’ll react to it. Hope this helps.

We coddle babies too much these days…just let them cry it out! They’ll adjust!! I raised NINE babies and had no problems.
