Taylor Swift’s ‘September’ – Unseasoned and Folksy

Do you remember the original “September?”It is like the soothing jingle of black joy that can make the folk dance, jig, jam and play spades to. This is why it soon became one of the favorite songs in existence for all the folks out there.

I loved every bit of the song until Taylor Swift came along and ruined it. You know how it feels to have a raisin in a potato salad, it felt me just like that.
A song that has been a mainstay in the African-American canon of music soon turned into a soulless piece of music. Swift and her profane cover of Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September” on Spotify Singles sent the internet into a tizzy. Honestly, she managed to ruin the song by kicking out the iconic elements, its soul and its rhythm in the three minutes. I can say it is like the scene of “Mean Girls” where the “Jingle Bell Rock,” pointlessly rendered into a drab one. The only difference is that it was a little more entertaining and little less infuriating.
She even changed the iconic first line that disappoints the fans like me.

I listened to her funk and soul staple which chased my good vibes away. I wonder why she morphed one of our culture’s greatest songs into a twangy banjo cover.
Swift lacks the passion!

What Swift presented was purely banjos and twinkles that lack the liveliness, rhythm, and passion. Frankly, the soul of the song is missing, and it sounds like housing discrimination as said by SB Nation writer Zito Madu. It is pointless to take such a classic and remake it with a sheer terrible-ness.

Well, we know covering a beloved song is tricky but some classics are better not to be messed up with.

At the end of the day, whatever is the driving force behind Taylor’s such rendition I doubt it can contribute somewhat to Taylor’s misstep.

Stop thinking it’s the end of the world just because Taylor Swift does something. Let her just do herself and if you don’t care about her, then just don’t give her attention and go on with your life.

I actually prefer Taylor Swift’s version. Just let people get creative and give their own touch to whatever they can find. It’s not hurting anybody.

The original song was kind of bad anyways, what different did she make to it?
