Is shaving a pain?

Facial hair is a constant battle to all guys (and some ladies) around the globe. Things get even more complicated if you have a sensitive skin, which I do, for example. I have spent literally months to realize what is the best way to deal with facial hair while having a sensitive skin. Although there are plenty of razors and creams that tout being good for sensitive skin, most of them don’t really work that well. I have found a few products that work well–and wouldn’t you know, I took them from my wife. Here are some good solutions for anyone who has sensitive skin.

Shave with the grain, not against: I definitely learned this one from my wife. While you won’t get the closest shave, you’ll definitely prevent as much irritation, as well as ingrown hairs.

Moisturize: While this seems obvious, making sure you’re not running a razor over your dry skin is super important. Guys…if you’re keeping a beard, find a beard oil that’s nice. If you don’t have one, a simple facial moisturizer works. Not related, but it should also have at least an SPF 30.

Keep your razor clean: I usually rinse my razor, and that’s it. But when bacteria builds up on it, it can easily get into those little cuts that inevitably happen while shaving. Why do you think the barber has that jar of blue stuff? I recommend running some rubbing alcohol over your razor before it’s used. The extra step can help your skin a lot.

Trim, then shave: If you have thick hair try using an electric first to remove the bulk. Then shave with a razor. You’ll be more accurate and make less mistakes, not to mention then your razor will stay sharper longer–which is the ultimate key to a good shave.

As you can see, there are a number of small things you can do to make shaving less of a hassle. Now get out there with your fresh face!

I wish we didn’t have to shave at all.

I think shaving is a universal pain. Everyone hates it.
