Every single day there is stress that we have to face in our lives. It’s a common occurrence for us in our daily lives. Stress can help us to work harder and give us the motivation to get the promotion you want. Or perhaps stress can give you that last push to run the last mile of that marathon or finish another set out of your workout. Not all of our stress is a bad thing, however, a lot of us feel like it is.

The reason for that is because we don’t really see how stress actually motivates us and instead we get stressed from other things happening in our lives. In fact, from the sources of stress, 70% say that they experience physical or emotional symptoms from having too much stress

In order to combat this, it’s important for us to look at some causes and find ways to deal with it properly. The reason this is important is that stress works on a trigger. So by mitigating the effects of the trigger, we can better prepare ourselves.

The first big cause of stress stems from the work that we do. From generally being unhappy about our job or getting a heavy workload, work can be a massive source of stress when we aren’t careful. Some preventative measures you can take would be to look at the problem and see what you can do to mitigate it.If you are getting harassed, talk to your boss about it. If you are working longer hours or have a heavier workload, ask if you can get some help with it or take some time off. A lot of times we simply need a good day to rest and recharge ourselves.

The second big cause is life stress. With life stress there isn’t much that we can do in preventing it. Things like death of a loved one, moving to a new house, or even getting married. Of course, some of those things are in our control, but often times preventing disasters when they come by means we were far too late to do anything about them. Instead you want to be mindful of your surroundings and do what you can to move past it. Sometimes you need to take specific steps and in some cases, it’s working through your emotions. Either way, there is always help available when you look for it.

Some other causes of stress stem actually from the inside. How we react to those situations of course is how stress is triggered, but there are some other sources from within. One of those factors is fear or uncertainty. Sometimes we don’t understand what is going on and that is stressful for people. The same applies to events that happen that are out of our control. In those situations it might be wise to limit how much news you are watching as they cover many stories that are simply out of our control. All the same, social media is much like that, sharing things that are our of our control as well.

Another factor is our attitude and perception. Again how we react is based on our own reality. For example, if we care about our TV a lot, some will get stressed out if they lost it. All the same, if you don’t value it as much you wouldn’t mind the loss all that much. This isn’t to say to not care about things or people, but to shift our thinking in a way we can avoid a lot of the stress in the event that something does happen.

The last factor and cause of stress is not meeting our expectations. Specifically when we set unrealistic ones. Some of may not realize that all that much about our expectations, however our standards are important. Not meeting them can be stressful in some cases, but when we set the bar too high and expect to achieve it and don’t it hurts. In those events look at the situation and see what you can do about it. Perhaps lower your expectations.
