With back to school season and Starbucks releasing the PSL this week, most of us will be thinking about is the fall season. When we are thinking about that a lot us deviate towards pumpkins, hearty meals in the slow cooker, and all around warm and pleasant food. Below are some recipes that you can use to get you into the fall season.

The first on our list is sweet potato kale frittata. Some of us have made or experienced frittatas before. They’re great breakfasts and they can also make for a good supper as well. This particular dish has a new take on the classic frittatas we enjoy. This one considers sweet potato, kale, along with goat cheese and takes about 30 minutes to have it all prepared. Pretty nice right?

Soups are starting to become more popular now as the temperatures begin to drop and there’s a lot of vegetables that make for great soup. You’ve got sweet potato and tomato, but one that is always nice is butternut squash. This particular recipe of butternut squash is a classic comfort food. It’s warming to the soul and provides a rich and flavourful soup. Try it out and you won’t be disappointed.

On another note of squash, one that may not get a lot of traction is spaghetti squash. If you’ve never heard of it, the inside of the squash – when baked – can be broken into strands of spaghetti. Hence the name. Of course, you can make spaghetti out of it, but this recipe provides something a little new. That is lasagna-stuffed spaghetti squash. Like stuffed peppers, this dish can be quite filling and is also very quick and easy to make.

Moving away from squash we’ve got a classic recipe of chicken with onions and apples. It might be a bit odd sautéing apples, but when cooked, apples switch from the familiar sweet taste to a savory texture that is lovely as a Sunday dinner – or any dinner for that matter.

If you’ve ever had shepherds pie, this one is something that you might enjoy as well. It’s called cottage pie and it’s quite similar in looks to shepherds pie. Regardless, the dish can be quite the nice treat and is quick to make as well. Furthermore, you can alter the taste by the choice of beer you choose to mix in.

The last recipe that can get you into the mood for the fall season is chili. Specifically beef and lentil chili. While a lot of people will say good chili needs to be cooked in a slow cooker all day, this recipe is an exception and can be quite tasty in the 20 minutes it takes to make it.
