January brings a lot of promise for people. It’s a new year and while some areas are cold, some areas are perfect to retreat, start fresh, and reap some of the many benefits. Furthermore with December holidays over, January is actually one of the cheapest months of the year to plan a vacation.

Below we share a series of places to check out to start off 2019!

The first on our list is Los Angeles California. While some would be quick to point out that this place is one of the most expensive cities in the United States to go to, that only applies to the tourist season. That’s not the case in January as many hotels and even airlines drop their prices a lot to this place. On top of that LA has a lot to offer with Universal Studios Hollywood, Griffith Observatory, and the storefronts of Rodeo Drive. On another note LA is suffering from a series of wildfires as well so even travelling and volunteering your efforts can be significant too.

Second on the list is Aspen Colorado. While some people prefer the warmth, some like the challenge that winter sports brings and Aspen has plenty of it. All the way from December through February is the peak area where you’ll get the most snow to do your winter sports in this area. Furthermore January is the time where hotels and even the ski lifts have the lowest and most affordable rates all season.

Moving to warmer climates we have our third spot at Caladesi Island, Florida. Florida’s pristine and isolated Caladesi Island is known as one of the best winter escape destinations, but it’s one of the most quiet ones too. Accessible exclusive via ferry in Central Florida or private boat, this is one of the islands that’s hardest to reach from among the other islands. If you’re feeling adventurous and enjoy the reward of calm, peace and serenity, this place is for you.

Another location that most people tend to miss is Puerto Escondido, in Mexico. Spanish for “hidden port,” the name is fitting seeing as most tourists have never heard of the place. This beach port though has a lot to offer from relaxing activities, horseback riding, and scuba diving. Through those experiences you’ll have a great opportunity to see the wildlife. Especially dolphins, whales, and sea turtles.

And for our final destination is for the travelers who want to walk off the beaten path. No other place is fitting than The Salar de Uyuni located in Bolivia. There you’ll experience the largest salt flat in the entire world. But why go there in January you may ask? Well, January is around the time where there is a generous amount of rain. In fact these rains start between December and February. But what these rains do is they turn the salt flats into one massive mirror which can even plays tricks on you through optical illusions. It’s something simple, but at the same time, it’s awe-inspiring.

Have you ever been to these places before? Why not treat yourself even more by saving some cash and kicking the year off by going here!
