Few things make me feel more empowered than a gorgeous piece of lingerie. I feel unstoppable when that beautiful lace and intriguing color hit my skin. It’s like armor that nobody knows I’m wearing!

I know I deserve to treat myself to new lingerie every once in a while, so I find myself at Victoria’s Secret every now and again picking up a new bra or two. Victoria’s Secret has always been my go-to as long as I can remember. The selections were so cute, and I wouldn’t have to break the bank every time I was in the mood to celebrate myself. Since I knew what I was getting whenever I went to Victoria’s Secret, I didn’t exactly feel like going through a trial and error with other brands. I asked my friend Rachel where she shopped to find the right lingerie to bring out her sexy side. She told me I should look to one of my favorite pop stars: Rihanna.

RiRi’s music always makes me feel like a queen. Her boldness, charisma, and assertiveness are beyond inspiring to me. She makes me feel strong and like I deserve to put myself first. So when Rachel told me that she’d recently shopped Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty, I knew right away that this collection was a fair contender against my longtime Victoria’s Secret loyalty. After all, Rihanna is all about celebrating diversity in body shapes and skin color — anyone who wants to feel fabulous belongs.

I headed to the Savage X Fenty website, where I saw models of all races and sizes donning stunning, bold, colorful bras and underwear. For the first time, I saw myself reflected in that lingerie — something I never really thought about at Victoria’s Secret, but now that I saw body diversity in action, I realized it was missing. I found Rihanna herself wearing a stunning number at the bottom of the page, and I almost screamed in excitement. I could rock something RiRi wears! That’s something I never said about any Victoria’s Secret Angel.

I started the process by taking a style quiz to figure out which of the line’s four style options would be best for me (I got “U Cute”). Savage X Fenty then led me to its monthly VIP membership sign-up page, where I could get massive discounts on all the line’s full-price styles, with new pieces released every single month. Every piece comes with a 30-day fit guarantee, too, so I could just send back anything that didn’t make me feel my best.

I just couldn’t stop seeing myself in the Savage X Bralette and the High-Waist Microfiber Thong, so those were my first two purchases I made. when they arrived at my doorstep, I tore the package right open and tried both on, and I immediately loved how I looked in them. I’m a Savage X Fenty gal for life now — here’s why I’m no longer curious to know the secret Victoria has kept all these years.

1.   Savage X Fenty Fits My Wallet

At Victoria’s Secret, I was paying the best prices I could find at the mall, but I still always wished I could spend less. Savage X Fenty lets me do that. With the discounts I receive as a VIP member, not to mention the membership fee I pay going toward all my purchases, I’m buying the most affordable lingerie of my life. Savage X Fenty doesn’t just fit me perfectly — it fits my wallet, too.

2. Savage X Fenty Is Inclusive In Its Sizing

Rihanna always emphasizes inclusivity in everything she does, and the diversity and accommodations of Savage X Fenty’s sizing show that she truly cares. I used to make Victoria’s Secret work well enough, but I knew that friends with larger busts always struggled with the styles meant for smaller bodies. I know Savage X Fenty is designed with all women in mind, and that alone makes its lingerie more empowering.

3. Savage X Fenty Offers The Ultimate In Lingerie Comfort

When a line of lingerie is made for someone who isn’t quite you, you can literally feel the effects on your body. So when I tried on my Savage X Bralette and felt entirely welcomed in my own lingerie, I was thrilled to discover that it was just as comfortable, if not more comfortable, than the five Vicotria’s Secret bralettes I had in my lingerie drawer back home. I couldn’t be more comfortable in Savage X Fenty’s lingerie — I can’t even feel it on my skin, but I do feel as sexy as a good piece of lingerie should make any woman feel.

4. Savage X Fenty Lasts Longer

I think I can speak for many Victoria Secret wearers when I say that the quality leaves something to be desired. Several of my friends, myself included, only wore a pair of cute underwear two or three times before poking a hole through the lace. Not so with Savage X Fenty. Even after washing and wearing several times, each piece held up as strong and as vibrant as the day it arrived on my doorstep.

After my first couple of Savage X Fenty buys, I got the Lace Bralette and the especially revealing Lace Cheeky. I couldn’t believe how much these pieces let me take on the day with newly-refreshed confidence, outfitted with that gorgeous confidence-boosting hidden armor. I’m loving feeling like I’m buying lingerie made for me at budget-friendly pricing, with a commitment to body diversity. Savage X Fenty reminds me that I’m worthy of celebrating — not just for those special occasions. I don’t find this to be particularly inclusive, as the smaller band sizes only go up to DDD. I wear a 34N and I have to drive an hour to a place that carries bras in my size. This un-inclusive brand will not be able to change that.

I broke up with Victoria’s Secret when I realized that as a plus sized woman, I would look better in bras, underwear and lingeries that fit body type/shape/etc. And that in turn would make me feel more confident and sexy. I am so excited to try Ri Ri’s lingerie brand and have seen nothing but good and glowing comments on it. I think that inclusivity is insanely important for so many reasons and I am happy that she is out there contributing to the change!!!
