With the film industry and movie theaters now recovering from the struggle of the COVID-19 pandemic, movie lovers are excited for the release of several major films at the end of 2023. Here are five of the upcoming movies in 2023 that people are the most excited about.

‘The Marvels’

The MCU has become one of the biggest powerhouse franchises in film, television, and other media, and Marvel holds claim to four of the top 10 highest-grossing films of all time. The studio is all-in-all the highest-grossing film studio of all time with over $29 billion dollars in gross from MCU movies alone, and that’s not even counting an additional $7 billion for the ‘Avengers’ movies and $10.5 billion for ‘Spider-Man.’

With that in mind, it’s no surprise that one of the most anticipated movies in Q3 2023 is ‘The Marvels’, a sequel to ‘Captain Marvel’ and part of Phase Six of the MCU. The new film follows three superheroes trying to find out why they switch places with each other every time they use their powers. ‘The Marvels’ will be playing in theaters November 10.

‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’

From the other major players in the world of superhero movies, DC Comics’ ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ will be released on December 20. This sequel to the 2018 movie ‘Aquaman’ stars Jason Momoa again as Arthur Curry (Aquaman) who is forced to protect his loved ones and the city of Atlantis from a devastating ancient power.

‘Killers of the Flower Moon’

Martin Scorcese is widely agreed to be among the best directors of all time, and his upcoming Western film ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ is sure to be one of the most-watched of Q3 2023. ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ is the story of a series of brutal murders in the Osage Nation in Oklahoma after oil was discovered on tribal land in the 1920s.

Scorcese has a reputation for bringing together some of the best actors in the world, and this new movie will be no different. The film will be the sixth time Leonardo DiCaprio has starred in a Martin Scorcese film and the tenth time Robert De Niro has worked with him. The new movie is in theaters October 20.

‘Wonka’

In a somewhat unexpected prequel, Warner Bros will be releasing ‘Wonka,’ the origin story for Willy Wonka from ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, on December 15. The movie will star Timothée Chalamet as Willy Wonka himself and is sure to give some perspective on the early life of one of the most eccentric characters in film.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes

Another major prequel releasing this year is ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes,’ which tells the origin story of a somewhat less beloved character. The new film stars Tom Blyth as Coriolanus Snow, the President of Panem in the Hunger Games films. The movie will show the events that led to Snow becoming the tyrant he is in the other films.
