Cookies are an absolute go-to for any occasion and widely loved by all. Need a good recipe? Look no further because all you need to make your favorite chewy chocolate chip cookies are in your shelf or probably just sitting right there at the kitchen counter. You will agree with me that ingredients like flour, sugar, salt, butter, eggs can be purchased easily, all in a bid to satisfy your sweet tooth craving and to give you the perfect dessert anytime any day!
Be forewarned! This is not a recipe for the usual crispy cookies that you are used to but for the lovers of the soft chewy cookies with the tiniest bit of crispiness at the very edge… the cookies that seem to melt in your mouth with every rich bite that you take. And be sure to have a glass of milk on the side to go with it.
- Ingredients needed:
- 2 cups of flour
- 2 teaspoons of salt
- ¾ teaspoon of baking powder
- 2/3 cups of brown sugar
- 2/3 cups of granulated white sugar
- 1 cup of unsalted butter
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups of milk chocolate chips
- 3-ounce bar of dark chocolate, broken into chunks
Pour the flour, salt and baking powder in a medium-sized bowl. Mix them together and set the bowl aside.
Using an electric mixer with a paddle attached to it, mix your unsalted butter and both sugars. Continue mixing until the mixture becomes light and fluffy using medium speed.
Add your vanilla extract and eggs to the mixture, making sure that the mixture blends together. Remember that when adding your vanilla and eggs, the speed of the mixer needs to be reduced to low.
The next step is to add all the dry ingredients (the flour, salt and baking powder earlier set aside) and mix them into the dough until they are well combined.
For this recipe to work, you need your bar of dark chocolate and your milk chocolate. After all, it is chocolate chip cookies! Make use of a spatula to fold in the chocolate. Stir the chocolate chips into the mix and cover properly with a plastic wrap. This can be refrigerated for a while.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the baking sheets. These sheets should be lined with parchment to avoid sticking. The balls of dough should also be at least two inches apart. If you are looking for uniform size cookies, you can make use of a small ice cream scoop.
Place these balls of dough on the parchment paper on the tray and bake in the oven until they are golden brown around the edges but soft in the center. This should last between eight to fourteen minutes. Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack.
You can serve warm or store in an airtight container.
