This month is jam-packed with music releases from a variety of artists spanning genres, and several albums from iconic artists are sure to shake things up in the world of music over the next few weeks. From Charlie Puth’s long-awaited third album to Taylor Swift’s impressive tenth album, read on below for seven new and exciting albums to check out in October 2022.
Charlie Puth – Charlie (Oct 7)
Kicking off the list is one album that’s already been released, Charlie Puth’s third studio album Charlie. The album has been met with great reviews so far, including an 81/100 critic rating and an 8.8/10 audience score according to review aggregator Metacritic.
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Return of the Dream Canteen (Oct 14)
Next up is a band that’s produced far more albums and is impressively releasing their fourteenth studio album this month. Alternative/funk rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers is releasing their album Return of the Dream Canteen. The album will include the singles “Eddie” and “Tippa My Tongue” which have been made available for streaming already.
Tove Lo – Dirt Femme (Oct 14)
Swedish pop singer Tove Lo will be releasing her fifth studio album, Dirt Femme, on October 14 as well. The Grammy-nominated songwriter has released other huge hits including “Habits (Stay High)” and “Close” with Nick Jonas.
The new album will include, among others, the songs “How Long,” “No One Dies from Love,” and “True Romance.” Each of the three singles were received well by Lo’s fans, but especially successful was “How Long,” which was used to promote the second season of the HBO series Euphoria.
Lil Baby – It’s Only Me (Oct 14)
American rapper Lil Baby has his third album It’s Only Me slated to release on October 14. It’s a major point in Lil Baby’s career for him to show if he can remain relevant for a long time or if his young fame will be short-lived.
Lil Baby, who won a Grammy for Best Melodic Rap Performance last year, has had a relatively short career with several big hits, including “Yes Indeed” and “Drip Too Hard,” as well as features with artists from Drake to Kanye West.
The 1975 – Being Funny in a Foreign Language (Oct 14)
For alternative or pop rock fans, the 1975’s new album Being Funny in a Foreign Language will be a must-listen. The 1975 have been a staple in the alternative music scene for the last decade and have produced several platinum albums and award-winning songs since their first studio album in 2012.
Arctic Monkeys – The Car (Oct 21)
Another iconic English alt-rock band is Arctic Monkeys, who have released six phenomenal albums over their career of almost twenty years now. The band has previously been nominated for several Grammy awards and had two albums added to Rolling Stone’s top 500 albums of all time list. The new album, The Car, will be released on October 21.
Taylor Swift – Midnights (Oct 21)
Finally, singer-songwriter Taylor Swift will be releasing her tenth studio album, Midnights, on October 21. Swift has been an idol in country and pop music since her self-titled debut album in 2006, and this is sure to continue with her next one. Midnight is described as a concept album featuring thirteen songs that each represent one of thirteen sleepless nights over the course of Swift’s life.
