The 2023 Grammy Awards wrapped up recently, and musicians all over the world are already hard at work creating an impressive collection of music for this year. From contributions in pop and country to rock and rap, here are five of the most exciting music releases from February 2023.
Adam Lambert, High Drama
Adam Lambert, one of the biggest American Idol success stories since the show first ran, will be releasing his fifth studio album, High Drama, on February 24th. Lambert has been praised for his incredible vocal range and tone, and he has sold over 1.2 million albums. The singer-songwriter even toured with Queen in place of Freddy Mercury for a time after his death. On February 27th, Lambert will be holding a concert at London’s KOKO concert venue to celebrate the release of the album.
Paramore, This Is Why
Rock band Paramore’s contribution to the February music release list was their sixth studio album This Is Why. This is the band’s first album to have the same lineup of musicians as the one before it, and it’s their first album released since 2017. The album has been called “jittery” and “anxious”, and some critics say it feels like Paramore returning to their roots.
So far, This Is Why has received primarily positive reviews from critics, and received scores of 85 out of 100 from critics and 9.4 out of 10 from fans on review aggregator website Metacritic.
Shania Twain, Queen of Me
For fans of classic country music, legendary singer-songwriter Shania Twain released her most recent album, Queen of Me on February 3rd. The album includes the hit single “Waking Up Dreaming,” which Twain released in September of last year.
Queen of Me is coming right off the heels of July 2022’s Shania Twain album Not Just A Girl, which was a companion to the Netflix documentary of the same name. This documentary follows Twain’s beginnings and rise to fame, along with the music that has led to her being the number-one best-selling female artist in country music history.
Pink, Trustfall
Award-winning singer-songwriter Pink released her ninth studio album Trustfall on Friday, February 17. The artist stated that the album is the best one she has ever made, but you’ll have to listen to it yourself to see if you agree. Pink is one of the highest-selling musicians in the world and has been regarded as one of the most influential artists in pop music for years.
Logic, College Park
One of the most-anticipated February 2023 albums in the genre of rap and hip-hop is College Park, by rapper and singer Logic. College Park will be Logic’s eighth studio album since his debut Under Pressure in 2014 and his first independent album since leaving Def Jam Records. Fans haven’t heard much about the songs that will be featured on the new album, but they’re looking forward to another release from Logic, who retired for a brief point in 2020 before returning to music last year.
