What was this year’s theme?
The theme for this year’s Met Gala was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” which paid tribute to the late designer’s body of work and explored his artistic methodology and stylistic vocabulary through his sketches and designs from his six-decade career.
Karl Lagerfeld was a prolific designer who passed away at the age of 85 but left behind an impressive legacy. He started his career in fashion as Pierre Balmain’s assistant in 1955 and went on to work for many brands including Charles Jourdan, Chloé, Krizia, Valentino, and Fendi.
Cardi B
Cardi B attended the Met Gala wearing a black corset gown to channel Karl Lagerfeld. The floral ball gown was embroidered with massive black roses and she wore a white collared shirt and matching black necktie underneath. Cardi even wore a silver wig to keep the monochromatic look and match Lagerfeld’s silver hair.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas
Dressed in Valentino to pay tribute to Lagerfeld’s time working for the company, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas stunned in matching black and white getups. Priyanka wore a classy black strapless gown with a large bow at the waist and some black Valentino platform pumps. Nick wore a sleek black suit with a leather jacket, white shirt, and black studded tie. The couple both also sported Bulgari jewelry.

Going against the monochromatic grain most people wore to the event, actress Salma Hayek instead wore a stunning bright crimson ruffled Gucci ball gown and matching red platform pumps. To perfectly accent the look, Hayek wore her hair in a ponytail held by three red rosettes.

Hayek wasn’t the only one wearing red to the event though, as actor Pedro Pascal came in an eye-catching cherry red outfit. The Last of Us star wore black shorts and a black tie paired with a red shirt and long red coat. To top off the look, Pascal wore a pair of shiny black combat boots with long black socks. The entire outfit was created by Valentino.
