Last month, HBO Max joined the crowded arena of streaming services alongside longtime champions Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video, not to mention 2019 newcomer Disney+. With these four streaming services available, you now have an overwhelming number of choices when it comes to which movies and shows to watch. Below, find the best new movies and TV to stream, one option per platform.

Uncut Gems (2019)

Available now on Netflix

Toward the end of 2019, Uncut Gems debuted to widespread critical acclaim. Audiences were more divided. With this buzzy movie available on Netflix as of late May, you can decide for yourself. Notably, the film is comedian Adam Sandler’s first dramatic role in several years, and many critics have called it his best acting work to date. Revered NBA player Kevin Garnett also appears in the movie as himself.

I Am Legend (2007)

Available now on Hulu

In 2007, I Am Legend became the year’s seventh-highest grossing film despite being released with just 17 days left in the year. The story of virologist Robert Neville (Will Smith) working to reverse the effects of a virus that has turned almost all of humanity into ravenous, unsparing zombies may feel more potent than ever amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The film is an adaptation of Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel of the same name.

Yvonne Orji: Momma, I Made It! (2020)

Available June 6 on HBO Max

Yvonne Orji rose to prominence as the co-star of HBO’s Insecure, so it only makes sense that her first-ever comedy special would debut on HBO. The trailer for the special includes footage of Orji visiting her homeland trip to Nigeria – her family’s conservative, traditionally Christian and African views are the basis for much of her standup material – and a standup set filmed at the Howard Theatre in Washington, D.C.

Knives Out (2019)

Available June 12 on Amazon Prime Video

This critically acclaimed film from November of last year is a classic whodunnit with a potent social and political message at its heart. What first begins as a standard murder investigation gradually morphs into a tale of internal family strife, racial tension, the wealth gap, and the ways that people will betray or deceive each other to get what they want. Although the film has an ensemble cast that includes legendary actor Christopher Plummer, relative newcomer Ana de Armas steals the show as the lead protagonist.

The Sandlot: Heading Home (2007)

Available June 12 on Disney+

The Sandlot: Heading Home is the second sequel to the beloved 1993 film The Sandlot following the 2005 direct-to-video movie The Sandlot 2. Audience reviews have been mixed, but the many millennials who loved the original movie when they were kids may find something to enjoy in the 2007 sequel, which is the most recent Sandlot movie to date. Notably, the cast of The Sandlot: Heading Home is almost entirely different from the cast of the original, which starred prominent actors including Denis Leary and James Earl Jones.
