The film’s box office release grossed over $700 million domestically and nearly $2 billion, so Top Gun: Maverick is currently holding a spot as the eleventh highest-grossing movie of all time. The movie was the highest-rated movie of the year on IMDB and got scores of 96% and 98% from critics and casual fans, respectively, on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
Director Jordan Peele is quickly taking his place as one of the premier horror film directors in Hollywood, and his latest movie Nope was another huge success. Grossing over $123 million domestically, this sci-fi horror movie stars Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer as two siblings who run a horse ranch and work with a videographer to try to catch proof of a UFO.
Nope scored very well among critics, receiving an 82% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 77 out of 100 from review aggregator Metacritic.
