Why Was Drake Bell Declared Missing Last Week?

Who is Drake Bell?

Drake Bell is an actor, singer, songwriter, and musician born on June 27, 1986, in Santa Ana, California. He began his career in the early ‘90s at the young age of five, with his first television appearance on Home Improvement. He also appeared in several commercials as a child.

Bell rose to prominence as a child actor alongside co-star Josh Peck in the hit Nickelodeon series Drake & Josh. He has also appeared in smaller roles in several other television shows and movies throughout his career. In addition to acting, Bell is also a musician and has released several albums throughout his career.

Why was Drake Bell declared missing?

On Thursday last week, the Daytona Beach Police Department announced on Facebook that Drake Bell was missing and had been since Wednesday. The Department also said that Bell was “considered missing and endangered,” much to the surprise of his fans. No one specified why they believed Bell to be in danger.

Afterward, however, news organization TMZ obtained a recording of a 911 call from the Orlando Police Department, where it was apparently revealed that Bell had a significant falling out with his wife and threatened to hang himself. Police in Orlando reported the incident to Daytona Beach police, characterizing it as a “possible attempted suicide.”

Thankfully, police reported later on Thursday that Bell was found and unharmed. Police and Bell have not released any information about where he was during the period or how he was found.

How did fans and supporters react?

While many people were surprised to hear of Bell’s sudden disappearance, the overall public feeling towards the incident didn’t seem to be one of worry. Bell hasn’t had a great public image for a few years since June 2021, when he was arrested for “attempted endangering [of] children and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles.”

Bell pleaded guilty to both charges, relating to a 15-year-old girl who he had apparently interacted with and allegedly sexually assaulted in 2015. Bell claimed not to have known the age of the girl and was released with two years of probation as well as 200 hours of community service. Some followers seem to see this as more evidence of issues with the American criminal justice system and weren’t happy with the priority that his missing case was given over other cases.

Is he ok now?

Bell seems to be doing fine now and made light of his own situation in a now-deleted tweet that read, “You leave your phone in the car and don’t answer for the night and this?” Bell hasn’t said anything else publicly about the incident, which is unsurprising considering he hasn’t had much of a social media presence for the last few years.
