September was a huge month for music releases this year, with music encyclopedia website Genius listing hundreds of notable album, single, and EP releases this month. From hard rock to classic hip-hop and a rising pop star, here are five of the best albums released in September 2023 you have to hear.

Royal Blood – ‘Back To The Water Below’

Royal Blood is a British rock duo formed in Worthing, England in 2011. The band consists of Mike Kerr on vocals and bass guitar and Ben Thatcher on the drums. The band’s unique signature sound is built around Kerr’s bass playing style, which sees him using various effects pedals and amps to make his bass guitar sound like an electric guitar and bass guitar at the same time, giving fullness to their sound that you might not expect from a two-piece band.

‘Back To The Water Below’ is Royal Blood’s fourth studio album since they were signed to Warner Chappell Music in 2013. The album was released on September 1 along with a deluxe version that includes two additional songs.

Lauren Daigle – ‘Lauren Daigle’

Christian music singer-songwriter Lauren Daigle released her self-titled fourth album on September 8. The Louisiana-born singer has had a successful album launch so far with 25,000 album-equivalent units, although it still lags behind her previous album ‘Look Up Child’ which sold over 100,000 album-equivalent units.

The new album features a whopping 23 tracks and is Daigle’s fourth consecutive album to debut at number 1 on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart. It also debuted at number 21 on the Billboard 200.

Olivia Rodrigo – ‘GUTS’

Pop singer Olivia Rodrigo released her second studio album, ‘GUTS,’ on September 8. The album came as a follow-up to the 20-year-old singer’s debut album ‘SOUR,’ which she released in May 2021.

Rodrigo, originally of Disney Channel fame, has quickly become one of the biggest names in pop music, and ‘GUTS’ has already topped the album charts in at least 12 countries. The album is highly rated by both critics and fans and seems to be the perfect next step for this rising star’s journey in the music industry.

Nas – ‘Magic 3’

For fans of classic rap and hip-hop music, legendary rapper Nas released his 17th studio album, ‘Magic 3,’ on September 14. This extremely prolific artist is widely considered to be one of the greatest rappers of all time, and he has a whopping 10 studio albums certified gold, platinum or multi-platinum in the United States.

Brothers Osborne – ‘Brothers Osborne’

In country music, on September 15, the duo ‘Brothers Osborne’ released their fourth studio album, this one self-titled. Brothers TJ and John Osborne have been recording music since 2012 and have been a highly successful act, having received six awards from the Academy of Country Music, 5 CMAs, and one Grammy Award.
