December is an exciting time of the year for people. Sure, there is all the added stress from buying gifts and getting ready for Thanksgiving, then Christmas, and then New Years. However, behind all of that, there is the sheer excitement of a new year being around the corner. It’s a great time to take stock of where you are at in life, and where you are going.

And upon thinking like that, some of us may be thinking about our luck. Perhaps we’re not going where we want to go, and it’s “just our luck.” The thing is though, experts have been looking into it and say that we have a lot more control over it than we might think.

You see, luck is often seen as something we are born with or without, or if something lucky happens it was by chance. But that’s not really the case at all. There’s actually some tangible things that you can do to bring that kind of prosperity into your life. Here’s how.

The first aspect is taking care of your own mental health. Part of attracting positivity and good fortune involves taking care of yourself. That goes for body, soul, and mind. We know this because if we feel anxious, we have an inclining that something bad will happen. That or we’ll interpret neutral stuff in a negative way or blow things out of proportion. All of these things affect our judgments and calculation of risks, too. So, if you can maintain a level head and radiate positivity despite what’s happening to you, you’ll be able to bounce back faster and think calmer and clearer.

How you handle your mental health is up to you but make sure that you are in a place of happiness. It also doesn’t hurt to be mindful of how social media affects you too.

The second aspect is being in tune with your gut. Otherwise known as listening to your intuition, being good pals with that can help you in a variety of situations. For example, if you’re stuck between deciding between two job offers, focus on what your gut is telling you. It’s easy to be distracted by salary and benefits, but you also want to pick the job that you feel genuinely happy about. That means a lot more as that brings you more passion and creativity to your life

The third thing is getting yourself out there. Call it jumping out of your comfort zone or taking action, no matter what doing that will pay off in the long run. The key thing here is to be saying “yes” more often. It doesn’t have to be all the time, but saying yes is a good start. Research shows that those who are present are the ones to get more lucky breaks over those staying home. All you have to do with this tip is be mindful that you need self-care and alone time at times.

The final thing is being mindful of your expectations. What I mean by this is focusing on the experiences rather than getting hung up about your outcomes. If you focus on the feelings you want to experience in anything in your life, you are showing openness to how things will be delivered to you. In the end, you’ll be more likely to encounter what you are looking for easier. There’s nothing wrong with setting goals, in fact, you want to be setting goals. However, the goal is far more rewarding when you focus on how you feel during the process rather than how you feel at the very end.

So, take some now before the new year to practice these things. If you can get them down, you’ll find your luck turning before you know it.
