Why Social Anxiety is Serious

If you are struggling with social anxiety by yourself, or if you know someone who is fighting this hard battle, then you should definitely continue reading. It seems like that people don’t know much about social anxiety and it also seems like everyone is ignoring it. We created this article with a purpose to inform others how people who have social anxiety feel and how it affects their life. So, let’s see what do we have on our list!

1.All those limitations. People who experience social anxiety may be not able to show their full potentials. Why is that so? Let’s say that you have social anxiety and that you are a great writer and speaker. But, you are great until you have some audience. It can stop you to show your gift to the world. And trust me, I know how does that feel like.

2.Meetings. You may experience hard times while meeting someone new because you may think that you act somehow weird. You will quit that friendship or relationship even before that person gets to meet you because you just think that you are ”acting weird”. That is also a wasted opportunity like the previous one, but this one is socially connected.

3.Pain. Yes, if you didn’t know, people who have social anxiety feel some weird pain almost every day. How does that happen? Anxiety makes muscles to be very tight like they need to be prepared for some battle (because that is exactly how the brain of some socially or generally anxious person acts-”THERE IS SOME DANGER OUT THERE, BE PREPARED!”). Yes, I know how that feels too. People who experience this may feel pain in their muscles, joints, have an increased heart rate, some troubles with breathing, hallucinations and so on. The list of physical symptoms is very long.

4.”Just relax”. Are you tired of hearing this from all the people you know? It seems like no one knows a lot about social anxiety and they just think how you need to relax. I suppose that you think:”Okay then, where is the relax button?”

5.EVERYTHING. You may feel so much stress just by receiving some phone call. It may sound weird to all those people who haven’t experienced social anxiety, but I completely understand you. Someone knocking on your door? Does your heart rate increase?

I hope that therapists will understand how serious this type of anxiety is and how many harms it makes to someone’s life. I hope it will happen very soon too.
