This month’s Saturday Night Live episodes, like last December’s episodes, are closing the year with exciting hosts and musical guests. On Saturday, Jason Bateman hosted the first December episode, with country singer Morgan Wallen as musical guest. On December 12, Timothée Chalamet will host with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performing. SNL’s final 2020 episode will feature esteemed SNL alum Kristen Wiig as host, with pop singer Dua Lipa as musical guest. Learn all about SNL’s upcoming hosts and guest musicians below.

December 5, 2020

Host: Jason Bateman

Musical guest: Morgan Wallen

Jason Bateman, currently best known as the star of Netflix series Ozark, came back to host SNL for the second time this weekend. His first appearance was in 2005 while he was starring in Arrested Development

For his appearance during this unconventional holiday season, Bateman’s monologue and skits featured several vaccine and COVID-19 jokes. These jokes contrasted Morgan Wallen’s history with SNL, as the country star was originally supposed to perform in October before the show canceled his appearance for violating COVID protocols. He was seen without a mask and kissing multiple women.

On Saturday, Wallen let himself get made fun of while he featured in a Christmas Carol-esque sketch. In the sketch, Bateman and SNL star Bowen Yang played future versions of Wallen. Later in the night, Wallen performed the songs “7 Summers” and “Still Goin Down.”

December 12, 2020

Host: Timothée Chalamet

Musical guest: Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band

Timothée Chalamet—from Call Me by Your Name and Lady Bird—will host SNL for the first time on December 12. Chloe Fineman has impersonated Chalamet in previous SNL sketches and debuted her impression during Saturday Night Live at Home earlier this year. Chalamet will be hosting before the premiere of two upcoming movies in which he stars: Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. Both movies have 2021 release dates.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will be the episode’s musical guest. Springsteen has been SNL‘s musical guest twice before, and he is appearing on December 12 because, on October 23, he released his twentieth studio album, Letter to You.

December 19, 2020

Host: Kristen Wiig

Musical guest: Dua Lipa

Kristen Wiig will host the final SNL episode of 2020. This appearance will be her fourth as host since she left the show’s main cast in 2012. Wiig, who hosted the third and final SNL at Home installment in May, will host this episode just days before the premiere of The Wonder Woman 1984, set to be released on December 25.

Wiig will be joined by musical guest Dua Lipa, who first performed on SNL in 2018. Earlier this year, Lipa released her sophomore studio album, Future Nostalgia, which garnered several nominations at the 2021 Grammys including Best Album and Best Pop Vocal Album. Additionally, Lipa’s song “Don’t Start Now” is nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year.
