Fall 2023 is officially here, and with it comes one of America’s favorite food and drink trends: pumpkin. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin muffins, and pumpkin bread are all the flavors of the season when it comes to food, but what about drinks? Here are three soothing pumpkin drinks to keep you comfortable and warm on Halloween 2023 and beyond.

Pumpkin spice latte

The pumpkin spice latte is the most iconic fall pumpkin drink, and the combination of milk, espresso, and pumpkin pie spice just can’t be beat. For a perfect copycat Starbucks pumpkin spice latte, simply add to a saucepan one and ½ tablespoons of sugar, two tablespoons of pumpkin puree, ½ teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice, ½ cup of your favorite brewed coffee, and ½ cup of milk.

Stir the ingredients together over medium heat until simmering, then take the pan off the heat and quickly serve your latte in a mug. Add whipped cream and a dusting of pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon and enjoy!

Pumpkin chai tea latte

Not a coffee person? Not to worry, you can make a pumpkin chai tea latte for a pumpkin twist on another popular warm drink. In a small saucepan, bring ½ cup of water to a gentle boil. Remove the water from heat, add a bag of your favorite chai tea, and let it steep for four minutes. Before removing the tea bag, squeeze any water remaining out by pressing the tea bag against the side of the pan with the back of a spoon.

Add in ½ cup of unsweetened almond milk or your milk of choice, two tablespoons of pumpkin purée, a tablespoon of maple syrup or honey, ¼ teaspoon of vanilla, ¼ teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice, and a dash of salt to the pan. Optionally, whip in ½ teaspoon of cornstarch to make the latte even creamier. Pour the mixture into your blender and blend for a minute or two, until the components are blended together and the drink is nice and creamy.

Pour your mixture back into your pan and gently rewarm on the stove, then pour it into your mug. Top with whipped cream and optionally add a garnish of a sprinkling of cinnamon or a cinnamon stick.

Pumpkin spice white hot chocolate

We’ve covered coffee and tea, which leaves the other most popular hot drink for the fall and winter months: hot chocolate. To make a creamy pumpkin spice white hot chocolate, start by whisking together five cups of milk, 12 ounces of white chocolate baking chips, and a cup of heavy whipping cream in a saucepan or Dutch oven over medium heat until it’s hot and creamy. Lower the heat to a simmer, then whisk in a cup of pumpkin puree, two tablespoons of sugar, one and ½ teaspoons of cinnamon, a teaspoon of vanilla extract, ½ teaspoon of nutmeg, and ⅓ teaspoon each of ground ginger and cloves.

Heat the hot chocolate to a comfortable drinking temperature, then, like the other drinks, top with whipped cream and your choice of a cinnamon stick, a sprinkle of ground cinnamon, or some pumpkin pie spice.
