Throughout the past couple of years, you might’ve heard stories of people quitting their jobs and pursuing their truest passions. Ian Simon and Brittney Lee are a great example: The married couple received ISSA certifications and then started their own business, RECKFIT, and they couldn’t be happier. We spoke with them to find out how ISSA helped them combine their passions for fitness, health, and community – and live the life they want to live.

Can you introduce yourself to our readers?

Ian Simon: My name is Ian Simon, and I’m an ISSA-certified personal trainer in Scottsdale, Arizona. ISSA has awarded me the opportunity to expand my knowledge, become my own business owner, and, most importantly, help as many people as I possibly can in my community.

Brittney Lee: My name is Brittney Lee, and I’m also a certified personal trainer in Scottsdale, Arizona. ISSA has changed my life because I went from a nine-to-five, not knowing what I wanted to do with my life, to being able to run my own business with my future husband. We help as many people in our community as we can, and I finally feel like I’m living out my purpose.

Can you tell us more about what you did before getting your ISSA certification?

IS: We both have very different beginnings. I’m a former professional athlete.

BL: I’m straight from corporate America.

IS: I spent four years as a professional athlete, and after my career ended, I was kind of aimless. I didn’t know what to do, and I had no idea how to utilize the skills, knowledge, and abilities that I had anymore. This naturally led me to ISSA. With the knowledge I’ve learned from ISSA, I’m now able to give back to my community and help as many people as possible stay healthy, physically active, and fit. I love what we do, and I thank ISSA for giving me all the knowledge, expertise, and resources I need to be a successful business owner.

BL: And we get to do it together! From a nine-to-five to going straight into owning my own business and working with Ian, I had no idea what to expect. Last year, with COVID, a lot happened, and a lot of things changed, and I just decided in that moment that I was ready to quit my career. I was ready to take a bet on myself, so I decided to get certified. Now, I’m working with Ian, we’re serving so many people in our community, and we’re really just able to be figureheads, lead by example, set the tone, and help people become their best selves. ISSA has helped us do that, and I am forever grateful.

What was your favorite thing about getting your certification from ISSA?

BL: The one thing we love about ISSA is that the opportunities are endless. They have so many different certifications you can choose from so your education doesn’t stop. We’re currently working on our nutrition certifications, and there are so many other things available at our fingertips.

IS: You can even become glute specialized and learn all about the butt. That’s what we specialize in, and that’s what’s made us successful.

BL: Not only have we been able to help grow our community, but we are also growing our relationship. Running this business together has really been something else.

IS: Honestly, if you’re looking to get out of your nine-to-five job, looking to work with your partner, there’s no better way to do it.

BL: We just thank ISSA because not only are we able to help our community, but we’re able to grow together. We’re growing a business, we’re learning the ins and outs, but we get to do it together, and I can’t say that with my old job. So I really appreciate this.

IS: What better way to live your life than being with your partner, doing whatever you want, but also helping out your community and making better people?
